How To: Optimize your Brain Power

Written by

We all have those days where you wake up but your brain stays asleep for the rest of the day. And you just can’t seem to figure out how to get in the zone so you can focus on your daily tasks. Whether you work from home or in an office or maybe you’re a student, a stay-at-home parent or a driven entrepreneur, we all need our brains to be functioning at 100% each day.

As you may or may not know, it’s extremely important to feed and take care of your brain as much as it is to take care of your body. So, we’ve compiled some easy tips to follow as well as 7 supplements that have endless benefits – some include increased focus, memory, clarity, brain health, and mood. We even included a recipe for your new special secret weapon: Bulletproof coffee. Time to fuel your brain!

As our designer, Andrew, says: “Cluttered space, cluttered mind.” This is probably one of the most important things to remember. Whether you work from home or not, it’s extremely important to have a clean and organized space. It seems like a no-brainer, but a clean apartment makes getting ready for work less stressful (especially if you hit that snooze button a few too many times). Working in a clear, organized space will help maintain a clear mind. Don’t believe us? Try to work in a cluttered space then on the next day, clean up and try again. Bet you work better in a clean space!

Even if you’re no longer in school, your brain needs to be exercised daily by learning new things. Read a book that out of your comfort zone or listen to a podcast about something that you wouldn’t normally gravitate towards. Make it a goal to learn something new each day. This will improve mental function, delays mental decline and boosts cognitive reserve.

Last but absolutely not least, get some sleep and move your body every day. “I don’t have time” isn’t an excuse. It doesn’t have to be an intense workout – something as simple as walking to work, taking the stairs instead of the elevator or jumping rope for 20 minutes a day can make a huge difference.

CITOCLINE: This is your brain’s protector. It helps build healthy brain cell membranes, helps blood flow to the brain, and helps with your brain’s plasticity (the brain’s ability to change throughout your life). It also improves memory, focus and attention – amongst other things.

ALPHA GPC: This is the ultimate memory booster (so good that it’s used in mild to moderate cases of Alzheimer’s). It’s essential for brain exercise, health and neurotransmitter formation. It has been known to increases serotonin, dopamine, and GABA.

MAGNESIUM THREONATE: I guarantee if you’re reading this right now, you probably don’t get the recommended daily dose of magnesium. But it’s so crucial for your learning, memory, and mood. It also reduces stress and anxiety and it helps your sleep quality and relieves Restless Leg Syndrome.

ACETYL L-CARNITINE: This amino acid main purpose is to increase both mental and physical energy. It’s an antioxidant that protects your brain from free radical damage and it improves the ability of certain tissues to improve energy. It also improves clarity, mood, memory, processing speed and can double as an antidepressant.

PHOSPHATIDYLSERINE:  Not only is this supplement for improving memory, it also slows down cognitive decline, treats ADHD symptoms, boosts athletic performance, and combats depression.

GINGKO: This one has a ton of benefits and it’s one of the most inexpensive on this list. Gingko improves concentration and lobido, reduces risk for dementia and Alzheimer’s, helps fight anxiety and depression, maintains eye health and vision, helps treat migraines and ADHD, lowers symptoms of asthma, and more.

// Coffee beans! Bulletproof coffee beans, to be exact. Bulletproof beans are lab-tested, mold-free and extremely clean. There are lots of coffee beans that aren’t tested in labs, meaning they could be full of mold, toxins and other nasty additives that can actually do the opposite for your focus and energy!

// Ghee clarified butter

// Brain Octane Oil

Brew coffee in a French Press. After coffee is brewed, pour it into a blender and add a teaspoon or so of Brain Octane Oil and a tablespoon of Ghee. Blend for about 45 seconds until the coffee has a nice frothy layer at the top. Ta-da!

// Ghee is full of high-quality fats and nutrients. Your brain craves these fats and nutrients to function properly throughout the day. Plus, the ghee makes for the creamiest cup of coffee you’ll ever drink.

// Brain Octane Oil is some strong stuff. It causes you to think clearly, work hard, and gives you an instant energy jolt. It immediately gets rid of brain fog and clears your mind in an instant.

// This Bulletproof coffee recipe can be used for all of us busy bodies who are always rushing because it has enough healthy fats and nutrients to push off breakfast a couple hours. Ghee and Brain Octane Oil both make you feel full and suppress your hunger so you can drink it on your morning commute and wake up your brain instantly.
