The Importance of Authentic Multimedia In Your Brand

Written by

Earlier this year, we worked with our client, Orange County-based Harcourts Auction, to bring the Harcourt story to life by adding video and photo to the newly revamped branding we had done for them. The Movetic and Harcourts Auctions teams, as well as photographer and director, Jes Stockhausen, went on a two-day photoshoot all over Southern California as a way to create content that will continually tell Harcourt’s story.

The photo and video footage from those two days were edited and used throughout all marketing materials as a video guide to buying and selling, as well as on all social media accounts (Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram). Because of the videography and photography used in Harcourts Auctions’ brand, the company was able to stand out from competition in a creative way and deliver the message across in an aesthetically pleasing way. But, there are so many more benefits to content marketing and the value of bringing photo and video to your website.

Ditch the stock photos and opt for the real deal

Let’s talk about why you need authentic professional photos on your website – not stock (stock photos are professional photos that can be bought or legally downloaded online and used by anyone). Did you know that a reader is 80% more likely to read and remember content if it’s paired with an image? So, needless to say, your website NEEDS photography and it’s best to have high-quality, original photography.

So, why not stock? Sure, it’s totally convenient and inexpensive, but there’s nothing authentic about it. And because stock photos are pretty much available to any individual or business, chances are, those photos you’re using are on more than one website out there. Imagine if a potential client visits your company’s website and sees a familiar photo that you decided to grab from a stock photo source. Not only will this discredit your website, but people are more likely to ignore the photo altogether (and possibly turn away from your website) if they’ve seen the photo on a billboard or someone else’s website.

We’ve all seen those staged stock photos with painfully fake smiles or perfectly placed products. As humans, we are more likely to feel a connection to a photo that’s displaying real emotions. And seeing high-quality, original photography of people or products that directly represent your brand’s true self will build credibility and trust, as well as brings more traffic to your website.

Bring your brand to life with video

To really take it up a notch, using video marketing on your website really showcases your brand’s personality, allows your business to stand out from your competition, and demonstrates what you’re trying to sell. It’s important to humanize your brand and gives people a sense of who you are, what your company represents and assures them that your brand is real – because that emotional connection will drive customers right to your “contact us” form.

Videos are an efficient, entertaining way to tell your brand’s story and the most effective way to sell is by storytelling. Nearly half of the users who watch a video will immediately take action after viewing it. Not only can videos lead directly to sales, but video marketing holds the consumer’s attention longer – meaning your brand is more likely to be remembered and talked about. And, not to mention, people love to share videos that they’re into on social media platforms – such as Facebook – which brings up your videos engagement with all the likes, comments, and shares. Incorporating video into your brand is a beneficial, attention-grabbing way to boost your company’s success.

Marketing for a new age

Stock photos and video-less websites are a thing of the past. People have been saying “video is the future of content marketing” for years. But it’s safe to say, the future is happening right now. Having high-quality and consistent content that’ll entertain potential clients in a unique and creative way is how your brand will not only succeed but stand apart from your competitors. We live in an extremely fast-paced world of digitally savvy consumers so this year – more than ever – content marketing is key to a brand’s success.

Content marketing enhances customer loyalty, generates traffic to your website, increases brand awareness and visibility, and provides added value to your company. And like I said before – content marketing shows your brand’s personality, connecting consumers on a personal level. According to research, about 70% of people have agreed that content marketing makes them feel closer to a product or business. If you haven’t jumped on the content marketing train, it’s absolutely time to do so.
