And bonus points to the ones who treat this post like a bucket list that you’re determined to finish before this summer is over. We double-dog dare ya. So here’s some super fun events you can check out all over the San Diego county.

Another year means some more Junk In The Trunk goodness for ya. Who’s ready to get all googly-eyed over distressed dressers, charming antique ceramics and all the vintage knick knacks you could imagine? This year’s event has 87 vendors that’ll be set-up in Liberty Station park and as we all know shopping works up quite the appetite, don’t you worry! There will be plenty of food trucks at the event with a nice little picnic area so you could enjoy this weekend’s perfect weather. The event goes from 10am-5pm and tickets are $10 are the gate (there’s also an early bird option available for $25 so you can get first dibs).

July 14th & 15th

If you’re not busy this weekend, come down to Imperial Beach for the Sun & Sea Festival to watch the sandcastle artists make some seriously jaw-dropping sand sculptures. On top of the sandcastle competition, the festival offers a pancake breakfast, 3k beach walk/run, a parade, food trucks and live music. Who knew sand art could be this fun?

July 23rd

As your tasting mug will read, “Have no fear, BEER is here!” For only $60, you’ll get two hours of unlimited beer tasting from nearly 30 breweries (over 50 different types of beer!) + a limited edition tasting mug; live music from DJ Kristian Nairn (aka HODOR from GAME OF THRONES!); interactive augmented reality art displays from the art exhibitor, Sutu; comic book art exhibitions; costume contests, and tons of food! And this year, it’s all held at San Diego’s Waterfront Park so you definitely won’t want to miss this. It’s every craft beer nerd’s dream! Get your tickets, here.

July 29th

Whether you have a dog of your own or not, this is one surf competition you don’t want to miss. Come to the beach to see some daredevil dogs take on the waves in the most adorable surf competition you will ever see. This event provides all the goods – food trucks, both video and photo booths (with a green screen), dogs that are up for adoption, an off-leash play area for your pups, a treat and food tasting for the pooches, and – last but NOT least – a BEER GARDEN (for the humans, of course). Surfing dogs and a beer garden?! Count us in.

PICKWICK @ The Space Bar

August 18th

If you’re looking for an inexpensive summer show, we have just the one for you. Pickwick is a Seattle-bred rock band whose sound is a unique blend of garage, indie and psych rock with a little folk, R&B and all the good vibes. We saw them a few years ago at The Casbah and they put on one hell of a show. Find tickets for Pickwick, here. And you won’t believe how many amazing bands are coming to San Diego in the next few months. Check out this list – the best way to discover new bands is to pick a random show and go!

August 13th

Taking place in the heart of Hillcrest, this one-day festival is a huge celebration of a the community and has literally everything you’d want in a summer festival. Upbeat live music from SoCal acts, live art with DJs, over 250 crafters and artists, a petting zoo, water slides, local eats, games, and a beer garden, of course. See? What more could you want?

For the 12th year, ArtWalk comes to San Diego’s Liberty Station to celebrate fine art with more than 200 artists, a dozen musical performances, local street food and interactive art-making. This year, ArtWalk is even setting up a beer and wine pavilion, too. So come out for a classy summer night of meandering around Liberty Station with a glass of merlot in-hand while you soak in some pretty incredible fine art.

August 27th

A few weeks after the San Diego ArtWalk, head up north for the LeucadiART Walk. Join thousands of other attendees and walk around to admire local fine artists’ original work as well as six different stages with some of the best local bands, a beer garden with local breweries like The Lost Abbey Brewing, and more. This year, LeucadiART will have live dance performance, six live art demos and a live mural painting. Plus, a free trolley will be running all day, making a few stops down Hwy 101.

September 15-17

What better way to cap-off your summer than with a music festival that has a lineup that seems too good to be true? Kaboo locked down big acts like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pink, Milky Chance, LANY, Alanis Morisette, Ice Cube, Weezer, David Guetta, Muse, Tom Petty, T-Pain, Pepper, Barenaked Ladies, and so many more. Once again, it’ll be held at the Del Mar fairgrounds and unlike many of the festivals out there, rumor has it Kaboo has those lavish flushing toilets, gourmet eats and an impressive lineup of beer and wine. Passes can be found here.
